Dear Parishioners of Machida Church and its Baptism Applicants

Fr. Masato Hayashi

                                                              Parish Priest

Machida Church

Following the Japanese Governmentfs third declaration of a state of emergency applicable in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Hyogo from April 25 (Sun) till May 11 (Tue), Tarcisius Isao Kikuchi, Archbishop of Tokyo, issued a statement setting guidelines on Masses and other parish activities. Based on the guidelines, our policy at Machida Church on Masses and other church activities is set forth as follows:

1.      We will continue Masses on Sat (18:30~), Sun (7:30~ and 10:30~) and Fri (10:30~).

Masses on weekend are held for designated parishioners separated by residential town.

Those who are vulnerable to the infection or whose family feels anxious about attending the Mass please do not hesitate to consider suspending the Mass.

2.      Although the Archbishop statement prohibits crossing prefectural borders in going to the parish where you are registered, the faithful of Machida Church living in Kanagawa Prefecture are permitted, by the Archdioceses of Tokyo, to come and attend the Mass in Machida Church.

3.      During the period of the state of emergency, all church activities are either suspended or conducted online.

Bible Class (Fri, after 10:30 Mass) and Introductory Class (Sat, 10:00) are also canceled.

Bible Class will resume on May 14 (Fri, after 10:30 Mass) and Introductory Class on May 15 (Sat, 10:00). However, in case the state of emergency is prolonged beyond May 11, these Classes will remain canceled until the declaration is lifted.

4.      Study Session for the First Eucharist is postponed for a week and will start at 14:00 on May 15 (Sat). If the state of emergency is prolonged, the Session will remain canceled and the Mass for the first eucharist is postponed accordingly.

Please try to prevent the spread of infection by refraining long chatting inside and outside the church.
